In the early 1970’s, while at the Stanford University Computer Science Department, Les Earnest invents the “Finger” utility.

1997
The term “Web Log” is coined by Jorn Barger, a programmer, futurist and a James Joyce scholar. Barger is considered to be one of the fathers of blogging, among Dave Winer and Justin Hall.

The first use of the word “Blog”

2001
Early podcasting- first music RSS update

Twitter introduces micro blogging
